Wangkamahdla People and Country

On 14 July 2021, Justice Rangiah of the Federal Court, made an order that there be a determination that native title exist for the Wangkamahdla People.  The determination recognises that Wangkamahdla people have maintained connection to country from the point of contact and continue to maintain this connection.

The Mulligan River Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (MRAC) was established to be the prescribed body corporate to care for the rights and interests of all Wangkamahdla people. 

Wangkamahdla country consists of more than 3 million hectares of pristine land within the channel country of central-west Queensland. 

Apart from performing its functions as a Prescribed Body Corporate (within the meaning of the Native Title Act 1992 (Cth)), MRAC aims to advance the social and environmental determinate that impact Wangkamahdla people, as well as ensuring that country is cared for, for current and future generations.

Wangkamahdla Country

Wangkamahdla country consists of approximately 29,000 square kilometres spanning from the Toko Range in the north to the north-east corner of the Munga-Thirri National Park.
